Poco is now an independent smartphone brand and no longer part of Xiaomi, so to say. Of course, like other sub-brands that went on to become “independent”, Poco will likely continue using some of Xiaomi’s services.
Distribution channels, after-sales support, and software (MIUI) are just some of the things that Poco is expected to keep borrowing from Xiaomi for the foreseeable future.

Xiaomi is known to provide no more than two Android OS updates to its devices. Given Poco’s kind of fan base, it would be a welcome idea if Poco went with a different, albeit better software update policy.
Three Android OS updates would be more than ideal. Throw at least three MIUI updates and regular security updates into the mix and we are good to go. But hey, we don’t make the rules.
For now, at least if the Poco F1 is anything to go by, we can expect two Android OS updates. But then again, this might not be true for all Poco devices, especially the entry-level models.
Poco F1 got 2 Android OS updates
In fact, this might just be the case for the Poco X3. As per the company, buyers of the Poco X3 can rest assured that Android 11 update is coming, but there’s no similar assurance with respect to Android 12.
There is also no assurance about other Poco devices’ software update policy, but what we can tell you is that besides the Poco F1, all existing Poco devices will receive the update to Android 11.
So far, the Poco F2 Pro already bagged the stable version. The Poco X2, on the other hand, is publicly testing Android 11 on its Chinese variant dubbed Redmi K30 4G. Safari for desktop.
There are also reports that Android 11 internal testing is ongoing for the Poco X3 NFC, Poco M3 and Poco M2, implying that the public beta testing for the trio is not far off.

Update 1 (December 07)
IST 02:45 pm: Recent developments suggest that Xiaomi is now preparing the Android 11 stable update for the Poco M2 Pro and Poco X3 (aka Redmi K20). For a detailed coverage on the matter, you may head here.

IST 10:12 am: The stable Android 11 update is now being seeded to the Poco F2 Pro in Europe. It carries the software version 12.2.1.0.RJKEUXM. Head here to know more and for the download link.
Update 3 (December 15)
IST 11:20 am: A Poco global executive has claimed that the developers are working on the Android 11 update for the Poco F2 Pro and it will be available soon. However, the exec. did not share a specific date. More info here.
